CANDIDATE FILING: JANUARY 8TH – JANUARY 27TH
HOURS ARE: MONDAY – FRIDAY 8:30-4:30, SATURDAY JANUARY 27TH 9AM-12PM
(CLOSED MONDAY JANUARY 15TH IN OBSERVANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY)

Offices on the ballot for each election vary by term limits and vacancies which create unexpired terms.  Each office may have specific eligibility requirements such as age, length of residency, or education.

The candidate filing period begins on the 2nd Monday in January prior to a primary election and ends the last Saturday in January prior to a primary election.  Certificates of Announcement and filing fees must be received in the appropriate office or be postmarked by the United States Postal Service no later than midnight on the final day for filing.

WHERE DO I FILE?

Candidates file for single county offices (except for House of Delegates) in the office of the County Clerk.  Federal, State (including all House of Delegate candidates), and an office that encompasses multiple counties file in the Office of the Secretary of State.
