Voters Registration

The County Clerk is the county’s Chief Election Officer.  Conducting all Cabell County elections is a major responsibility of the County Clerk’s office.  Registering voters, candidates and maintaining voting precincts are also the duty of the clerk's office.

WHEN CAN I FILE?

The candidate filing period begins on the 2nd Monday in January prior to a primary election and ends the last Saturday in January prior to a primary election. Certificates of Announcement and filing fees must be received in the appropriate office or be postmarked by the United States Postal Service no later than midnight on the final day for filing.

WHERE DO I FILE?

Candidates file for single county offices (except for House of Delegates) in the office of the County Clerk. Federal, State (including all House of Delegate candidates), and any office that encompasses multiple counties file in the Office of the Secretary of State.
